The pay for EMT-P is pathetic locally. A couple of years ago when I checked, the pay was about $12/hour. That was the highest I heard, and that was from guys with experience who had been at it for years.

Funny how the guy responsible for saving your life and knowing quite a bit about drugs, doses, treatments, heart rhythms, etc. doesn't get paid very well.

I guess that makes it on par with LPN then, even though a Medic can do the same as an RN in an ambulance. It's just mind-numbing to me.

I did have my EMT-B class and 1/2 of the Intermediate classes, but my B license ran out. I didn't keep up with it since the Basic pay was less than what I was making at the time and I had no plans to practice.

Maybe I'm just being Johnny Raincloud.

Forgot to add that you may already partly qualify for the degree with your previous EMT courses, which would shorten the course work.

Why not Emergency Medical - Paramedical Services? You already have some EMT training, and the AAS degree in Emergency Medical - Paramedical Services is 5 semesters at RLC.

Are there no jobs for paramedical EMTs, or is the pay too low in Mt.V for this, or just lost interest in pursuing any further? I assume it would pay more than an LPN.
