UPDATE: There will be a 2nd Tournament due to the success of the first one. Contact us at jaycees@mvn.net if you are interested in participating, sponsoring, or just have questions.
In case you somehow missed it, I am a member of the Mount Vernon Jaycees.
This Saturday, May 31, 2008 we will be hosting a Guitar Hero Tournament at the Granada Center for the Performing Arts. Registration will open at 8AM, with Easy level competition starting at 10AM.
I won’t bother posting the boring details here. The Register-News printed our press-release regarding the event here.
i will say that we are putting major effort behind this concept, and it should be great fun for everyone involved. We greatly appreciate the Granada group letting us rent the facility for this project, and will be giving 100% of the door proceeds to them.
The prizes for each winner’s category will be ~20% of the total registration in the form of a gift-certificate, and will vary of course with participation.

Our high school theater parent group is interested in hosting
a guitar hero fundraiser. We are not sure where to start. Do you have any helpful guidelines, info or a useful website.
Thx

The big thing is getting a local sore or rental center to hopefully donate use of a couple of TV’s. Usually they will if you let them put up a sign or two at the event. Same for the game systems and games, but members/friends usually have those.
Make sure you let everyone know that cheat codes will not be used and that you will be using Xboxes or Playstations, or whatever. That way they are prepared. Have enough guitars for 2 per station.
Don’t let people compete in more than one category. If you do, you’ll get an expert who plays all the categories just so they can win all of them.
There are a lot of sites that post rules and tips. These are the big ones we ran into with ours. Let me know if you need any more info.

Daniel. I want to host a GH contest in my town. Do you need permission to do so?
Please email me at jou2jou@msn.com
