Cigarette Burns

I’m writing about the short movie directed by John Carpenter. There is a series on Showtime called “Masters of Horror”. They give the greatest horror directors these short movies (one hour) to direct for the series. This one was rated very highly everywhere I read.

It was okay, but the ending kind of leaves you like WTF? The directing was very good, so props to Carpenter. The story’s ending however, leaves you wanting some more explanation. Not that leaving you wondering is bad all the time, but in this case, I thought it sucked. Just my opinion, check it for yourself and see if you agree.

Zoo aftermath

We patrolled the zoo for 6 hours. It was an adventure. By the end of the day the kids and Mom and Dad were wiped. By the time we got back home Em and I agreed that we were not going to cook, so we didn’t. Fazoli’s provided nourishment for the evening.

I think everyone had fun. The kids saw elephants, zebras, tigers, giraffes, and many many more creatures that I can’t even recall. Just ask them though, and they’ll spout off a seemingly endless stream of animals. Personally, I was fond of the otters that would dive into the water, swim to the glass, and then do a backflip underwater. I don’t know if someone taught them to do it or what, but they kept doing it to the amazement of everyone watching.

Emily ran out of space to save the pictures. Who knew that was possible on a digital camera? Hopefully they will be posted soon in the Pictures section.

The ZOO

Now that my blog is hosted in my own domain, I can cry. I weep because Em and I are going to the kids’ field trip tomorrow to the zoo. 20-30 small children running around and I have to be responsible for them. Not a position I look forward to.

On the positive side, the children should have an awesome time. The last time we went it was cold and Erich was Amaya’s age-ish. I think. It was a long time ago anyway.  No matter what I want to make sure all the kids have fun. That’s what’s important.

Everybody’s MIA

All the execs and a few others went to Alltel HQ for a meeting. Of course everyone back here at the office is speculating what’s going on. Frankly I’m not that worried. I figure whatever will happen will happen.

People seem very preoccupied with what is going to happen rather than with what is happening right now. Why worry? Just go about your job and hope that we will be told a reasonable amount of time before we are dismissed.

Wednesday excitement

Not really. Today was just another day at the office and I don’t expect much this evening. I think it’s nice to have those kinds of days every once in awhile. Some time to relax and reflect. Perhaps I will start learning espanol. May as well the way Bush is going.

I did find a disturbing entry in Wikipedia earlier. They list the price that Alltel paid for First Cellular at US$14-15 million. While we are a small carrier, that strikes me as unbelieveably low. I have searched and searched via Google, FCC.gov, and FTC.gov to no avail. Perhaps someday I will know. I don’t really care, but now that an amount has been stated that I believe to be incorrect, I want to know.
